What if I decide I want to maintain this myself—Can I do that?

This is both a yes and a no.

Let’s pretend you’ve just visited a lawyer who has just drawn up your will. Would you ask, “Can I just make any small changes to this in the future, and just add a line or two?” I’m guessing you wouldn’t expect them to say “sure”, because you’d know that you’d most likely end up making your will invalid given your lack of legal knowledge (unless of course you are actually a lawyer yourself… in which case imagine one of your clients asking you that question.)

Yes, you can physically click “update” on each of your website plugins and themes, but realistically what happens when something goes wrong (which isn’t that rare of an occurrence). Would you actually have the technical know-how to fix it?

You’re in the position you’re in at the moment looking for someone to take the tech piece off your hands because you want to focus on growing your business and doing what you do best. Why would you want to go back to wearing multiple hats and taking on maintaining your website again?

We use a very specific set of tools that are only usable by developers who understand how to code. The reason we do this is because that’s what makes your website faster (which Google & visitors love). We have the knowledge to be able to “remove the bloat” as it’s known, so your website doesn’t run unnecessary processes that make it slow to load.

So, unless you’ve got an in-depth, up to date knowledge of CSS, WordPress and the builders & plugins we use, I do not recommend you even consider maintaining your own website, because you’re more likely to break something than you are to succeed with it.
